Greetings!

This is the big event --
the Grand Opening of the Lime Kiln Trail!
After seven years of hard work by volunteers, the Lime Kiln Trail will officially open in October 2004.  You, your friends, and families are invited to celebrate this milestone at the following events.

The Volunteer Celebration will be on Sunday, October 3rd, 2004.  Volunteers, friends, family and others interested in Robe Canyon Historic Park will gather at the trailhead for a potluck lunch with time before or after to hike the trail.  Please join us to enjoy the early-autumn sunshine, meet volunteers who have shared a labor of love to create this trail, and renew friendships from past work parties.

° The morning will be open for hiking the trail for you early risers.  Please carpool to the trailhead if possible.

° A rain-or-shine potluck is scheduled at the trailhead parking lot at 12:30 p.m.  Bring lawn chairs!  We already have volunteers bringing a picnic tent and 4 tables.  Do you have a picnic tent (roof only, no bottom or sides) to lend to the event? If you do, or if you will want to bring food to cook on some kind of grill, please contact Kim at carlsonesq@comcast.net.

° The afternoon will also be open for hiking the trail.  The trail is 3.4 miles, one-way, so a hike to the end and back takes 3.5 to 5 hours.  Please do your best to carpool to the trailhead!

The Official Dedication Ceremony will be held Friday, October 15th, 2004, at 3:00 p.m. at the Lime Kiln Trailhead.  Snohomish County officials will recognize the volunteer work done to create the trail and celebrate the official opening of the trail for public enjoyment.

° Snohomish County Executive Aaron Reardon and other officials are planning to attend.  Volunteers who have contributed to the project should attend if possible, representing the 325 volunteers who have added their sweat equity to the creation of the Lime Kiln Trail.  We encourage you to check with the good people at Snohomish County Parks and Recreation (425-388-6600) for updates or changes in the schedule prior to this event.

° The Dedication Ceremony is at 3:00 p.m.

There are no adequate words to thank you for your dedication to this trail.  Your work speaks volumes!
